While supporting www.hopenothate.org.uk by handing out leaflets in Aberystwyth I had the opportunity today to congratulate Sue on her time as Mayor of Aberystwyth. As well as bringing a dignity and level-headedness to the role she also brought a bit of celebrity as well. The coup of inviting Terry Jones and Michael Palin to Aberystwyth and relaunch The Life of Brian gave Aber a positive profile that will have done much good to tourism. However this is not what I shall remember, rather the oration she gave at the funeral of Cllr Owen Jones (Penparcau) which struck such a tender, dignified and majestic note. Its a hard act to follow.
